Storytelling in Media
Weekdays | June 16 - June 27, 2025
10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The Media Arts Department Summer Program aims to provide students with experience in the different storytelling and creative paths of Film, Animation, Photography, and Creative Writing that comprise the Media Arts Department at The Academy.
In this two-week survey course, students will work collaboratively to explore the workshop process: from rough cuts to revised drafts, from giving to receiving feedback, and from initial inspiration to polishing publishable pieces.
The first week will be devoted to creative writing and photography. Creative writers will have the opportunity to explore fiction, poetry, and screenwriting. Photographers will focus on composition, exposure, and visual narratives.
The second week will focus on film and animation. Participants will focus on composition, exposure, and the post-production process. Each student is expected to experiment with all modes of creation.
At the end of the 2 weeks, we will launch an online publication that showcases our work.
No prior experience is necessary, but students should be prepared with basic computer skills, a readiness to collaborate, and a passion for learning!
