Isabel Ball - Dance

Isabel Ball (Dance ‘17) is headed to Boston Conservatory for Dance at Berklee this fall! She debuted her senior choreographed piece “Colin’s Dream” at the dance concert in January at the Athenaeum Theatre.

“It was definitely my favorite thing that I have done at The Academy. It’s a really big deal to do something like that in high school. You’re really doing it all—choreographing, picking dancers, choosing the lighting, designing costumes, and finding the perfect music. It’s a lot, but it was so rewarding.”

“Izzy has been a leader in the department since she came to the school. Her talent in dance shows abundantly, as do her gifts as a choreographer. We have benefited greatly from her being at The Academy,” said Dance Department Chair Randy Duncan.

Isabel has grown to love the diversity of the Academy community.

“Exposure. The Academy offers exposure to different kinds of art, but also to different kinds of people. You truly get all walks of life here, and it opens your mind. For me, it was the opportunity to branch outside of the Dance Department. You end up spending so much time with the dancers every day, but I’d recommend to anyone coming into the school to make friends in the other departments and see other people’s shows.”

Congratulations Izzy!
