Congratulations to Academy alum Jack Dunphy (Media Arts '11) on being included in Newcity's Film 50 (see page 9)!
Jack is a filmmaker and animator now based in Brooklyn. His work blends documentary with fiction, and animation with live action. His short films SERENITY (2015) and CHEKHOV (2016) were included in the Sundance Film Festival. He also animated Caveh Zahedi’s short film BOB DYLAN HATES ME (2016) which also appeared at Sundance. Recently he co-directed the feature film, THE PERVERT with Nathan Silver, with whom he also co-wrote the feature film STINKING HEAVEN.
"Any school can push a student academically, but The Academy pushes its students intellectually and even spiritually. My teachers were my best friends. My best friends were my teachers. I was given the space I needed to fall in love with thought. If I could do it all again... Well, that's something I'd like to do."
