Mary Caraway
At The Academy, Mary Caraway defied any conventional job description or title, for her role transcended any label that could be affixed to it. It was monumental – exceeding the boundaries of any official title. Each and every day, she embodied the roles of counselor, diplomat, mentor, nurse, trusted advisor, and friend to all who were part of The Academy's family.
On a daily basis, a steady stream of students, parents, alumni, staff, and teachers would eagerly queue up at her desk, waiting their turn to engage with Mary. The ones who really needed her guidance would sit behind the desk with her.
The unexpected loss of Mary in 2019 was deeply felt throughout the school. To remember her, the community gathered for a memorial where songs and heartfelt remarks were shared in her honor.
From the moment Mary became part of The Academy in 2012, her spirit—filled with love, joy, and care—imbued itself into the very fabric of our school. Her influence isn't short-lived; it's a lasting presence, a testament to her enduring kindness and dedication.
