A Man of No Importance is written by Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens, and Stephen Flaherty, the Tony Award-winning team behind Ragtime. It tells the story of Alfie Byrne, a bus conductor in 1963 Dublin with the heart of a poet who is struggling with a secret he can barely admit to himself. When he’s not driving his bus route, Alfie pursues his artistic passion and directs plays for a local community theatre troupe in a church hall. When he attempts to stage a production of Oscar Wilde's controversial play Salome, art and life collide. The original Lincoln Center production won the 2003 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical.
